[…Naija in review]
Naija is not an easy place to live especially if you have lived away for more than a few years.
Traffic is HORRENDOUS!! Especially on the Island! It once took me 2hrs to get from the 4th roundabout [chevron] to the 1st roundabout [Lekki Phase one]…utterly ridiculous.
Okadas are above the law in Naija. They go and do as they darn well please. These cockroaches breeze thru traffic lights when Cars and trucks and Lorries are stopped…it’s a sight to behold, really. Calabar has eradicated okadas as a mode of transportation…everywhere looked so much cleaner and more peaceful, however, the masses are not too happy about it cos frankly how are they supposed to get around? Nuisance as they might be they are the cheaper and quicker way to get around....
People on the Mainland enjoy [if you can call it that] more days with light than those on the Island. The idea is that people on the Island can afford Generators and Petrol…retarded huh?
You know how you go to a party/club and usually guys are posted up against the wall? It’s the opposite in Naija. Dudes are the ones all up on the dance floor going at it…no one does fine boy…plus the ones that can dance and the ones that can’t!! Oh and you know how girls dance in packs and with each other?? Yea, [some] naija guys do that too…this one just weirds me out lol
They LOVE them some Wande Coal in Naija mehn…he is on heavy rotation EVERYWHERE….Still! I’m talking cabs [naija/ghana], clubs, shops…everywhere!
My taste buds are either deadened or better cos some things just didn’t taste right at all. I got up one morning ready to have me some breakfast...I put some golden morn in a bowl, dumped some powdered peak milk on it, added a couple cubes of sugar, poured some cold water on it and proceeded to enjoy my breakfast….Ewww did I almost puke!!! Powdered Peak milk tastes NOTHING like I remember it. Luckily there was evaporated so I still had my breakfast. They have other brands now [Oldenburg..something and some others] sha soI was straight on the cereal front.
Let’s not even talk about Gala…ewwww!!
I had more yam and dodo while there than I had had over the last 5years…true talk!
Ogi still tastes the same…my last bfast there was ogi and moi moi—Yummm!!
Meatpie, Sausage rolls, and Cake were a welcome delight….I pigged out on those
Lace front wigs are wrecking serious havoc in Lagos oh…babes looking like trannies or as I read somewhere “Japanese Samurais” LOL!! Naija people too dey over do!! Haba! As in, everybody and their mama had long and luscious cascading hair!!
That said…loads of people were spotting some bad ass braids. Got mine braided more than a coupla times.
I was in Naija movie central and didn’t indulge as much as I thot I would. Blame it on NEPA.
Naija is expensive…I wonder how people maintain their lifestyles.
“Credit” will CHOP your money in naija…think you can guess how much I spent on recharge cards?? Lol!!

Naija makes you aggressive…there are soooo many incompetent people, soooo many senseless behavior, sooo many unnecessary things…you just find yourself getting mad and screaming...sometimes all you can muster is a deep deep sighs.
So many Naijas complain about the corruption but we also feed into and aid it….double-edged sword, I guess.
Ghana has left Naija in the dust development wise…it’s rather sad really. How is it that they have been enjoying uninterrupted power supply for year(S) and we can’t even manage it for a full month?? I weep! I passed thru one of their toll gates and they actually have like a zip cash [electronic] type thing going…*sigh*
NOBODY has your time in Lagos oh…LOL!! Everyone is too busy…not that one can blame them sha. I learned rather quickly to take peoples words and plans with a pinch of salt. Folks will make plans with you and ‘forget’ to call you to cancel…as in people have no regards for Your time.
The problem with Nigeria is that she has NO shame and her people have no National Pride.
The average Naija guy is ‘short’ [to me]. Oddly enough I came across a lot of tall men in my short time in Calabar.
...This is all i can think of and remember at the moment.
2010 is going to be a rather interesting year it seems. Bring it on…we dey here!
Hope everyone is good. You'all have a Fantabulous Weekend
*XOXO*
